State of Student Report 2019-2020
Each year, we collect data from high school students attending the State of Jobs Conference, an event dedicated to exposing students to various postsecondary and career opportunities. We surveyed students when they first arrived to understand their perception before they are exposed to existing opportunities shared with them throughout the day. In addition, this is the first year we surveyed students at the end of the day to see if their perception would shift due to the information acquired throughout the conference.
This data was collected at two separate events covering seven counties in the State of Florida, including Manatee, Sarasota, Desoto, and Hardee Counties, which make up the west coast conference. The east coast conference includes Port St. Lucie, Indian River, and Martin County. Students used the SOJC mobile application to answer surveys delivered to them at a specified time (beginning vs. end of the day.)
